For the first time we have the great honor of welcoming composer and performer Linda Buckley as guest curator for our September Kaleidoscope at the Odessa Club. She has put together a programme which represents all that Kaleidoscope is about; diversity, passion, innovation, intimacy and community.

“This Kaleidoscope is all about finding points of contact between musics – from the medieval harmonies of Leonin to the modal pared down melodies of John Cage, from Baroque classical and Irish traditional elements colliding and merging in O’ Carolan, to Steve Reich’s minimal ambiance influencing the electronica of The Orb, through to folk and indie interpretations of Song to the Siren.

This is all music that has influenced my own composing, also some of the major people who have impacted on my musical development feature, from my sisters Irene and Annette to my first flute teacher (Conor O’ Connell) displaying his Baroque recorder talents. A sense of community in the interconnectedness of all music…I invite you to come and enjoy some of the music which has inspired me over the years.”  Linda Buckley, 9th August 2010
