The work is based on four stories as narrated by the famous Blasket Islander, Peig Sayers, each story set to music with string quartet accompaniment and uilleann pipe interludes.

RTE CON TEMPO QUARTET
Formed in Bucharest in 1995 The RTÉ Contempo Quartet is one of the most exciting and vibrant chamber ensembles performing today.
The ensemble has performed world-wide in prestigious venues such as St Martin-in-the-Fields, Berliner Philharmonie, Palazzo del Quirinale Rome, Carnegie Hall and the Opera House Tel-Aviv and has won numerous international prizes, taking first prize at competitions in Munich, Rome and London.
Mick’s music has crossed many boundaries and styles through the years, but it is as a traditional uilleann piper that he is best known. His traditional style shows great delicacy and subtlety, strong in rhythm and enlivened by his unique inflections and nuances, his performances always throw new light on even the most familiar tune.
Brendan Begley is bursting with the wild and beautiful music of West Kerry. As a singer he is a gentle giant. On the accordion, he is a force of nature. His is music that could not exist were it not for the mountains, seas and storms of his native “Corca Dhuibhne” more commonly known as the Dingle Peninsula.
Anne-Marie is especially noted for her transcriptions of keyboard, lute and pedal harp repertoire for the Irish harp, and also for the unique levering techniques which she continues to develop on this instrument. As a result of her innovations in this area, she was consultant to Salvi harpmakers on the design of their Irish harp, the Livia.
Having worked extensively at home and internationally in the world of Opera, concert, and recital, Colette has acquired vast experience and loves to perform her wide repertoire encompassing many of the vocal genres.
She has worked as a soloist with such acclaimed Opera companies as Glyndebourne, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Aix-en-Provence Festival, Opera North, Lyric Opera, Opera Ireland and Opera Theatre Company.
