Kaleidoscope are delighted to present a late night evening of music, in association with the Goethe Institute and Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival on October 12th at The Odessa Club in Dublin.
We present a night of theatre, text, song and chamber music together in a true celebration of boundary breaking composers, brought to you by exceptional musicians and performers.
To celebrate 50 years of the Goethe Institute in Dublin, the UBDTF have a exciting strand of German theatre running through their programme, under the banner "The Radical Mind"
Kaleidoscope curators, Cliodhna Ryan and Kate Ellis have responded to this with a diverse and exciting programme celebrating radical German composers through the ages.
The evening opens with Nick Milne, one of Europe's finest viola da gamba players playing J.S.Bach's Suite for Solo Violoncello No.5, followed by Beethoven's powerful and dynamic String Trio in C Minor, performed by the combined talents of William Butt on cello, Joachim Roewer on viola and Cliodhna Ryan on violin.
Helmut Lachemann, one of Germany's most influential living composers brings us straight to the present day.
Kate Ellis will play his gritty yet intimate virtuoso cello masterpiece, "Pression" for solo cello.
We stay with the contemporary, as David Stalling and award winning actor Olwen Fouere present a new work, devised for the occasion, inspired by Goethe's work.
To end our celebration of groud-breaking German composers, we are delighted to welcome the wonderful Julie Feeney, accompanied by Conor Linehan on piano, who will perform excerpts from "The Seven Deadly Sins" by Brecht/Weill, to send us into the evening with what is sure to be a memorable performance.
We would like to acknowledge the support of the Goethe Institute, without whom this event could not take place.
